The Hidden Valley Club Race Team Program
The Hidden Valley Club's race program is based on USSA training techniques and the methods used by the US Olympic Ski Team. The Program is designed to give young skiers the skills they need to be superior skiers, whether or not they compete in races. Our excellent coaching staff is dedicated to the needs of the children and has produced state champions and US Ski Team members. With one of the longest continually running race programs in the region, Hidden Valley Club is recognized as a leader in ski racing. Helenback, The Hidden Valley Club's race trail (expanded in 2004) is FIS homologated and provides the best training terrain in the area.

In addition to having superb terrain, The Hidden Valley Club racers have their own training center separate from the lodge. We offer a variety of programs at The Hidden Valley Club for children as young as five years through high school and adult racers.

Regardless of age or level of ability, the students are always encouraged to have fun! The camaraderie among racers and coaches is clear; the love of skiing and having fun are the goals.
It is no wonder that The Hidden Valley Club Race Program is one of the longest continually-running race programs in the region and is recognized as a leader in ski racing.

Training Programs

Entry Level Programs

HURRICANES (Ages 5-6)
Saturdays & Sundays, 12:30-2:30 pm

This entry-level development program is the first step into the race training program. Skiers need only to be able to ski in control by themselves and have prior experience getting on and off a chairlift. Coaches make learning fun as they teach the little ones the basics of good skiing technique.

BUDDY WERNER HOT SHOTS (Ages 7-12)
Saturdays & Sundays,
9 am - 11 am or 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Like the Hurricane program, it is an entry-level program for older kids to work to develop their skiing skills. A fun learning environment is key as kids practice racing techniques.

Race Development Programs

USSA RACE PROGRAMS (Ages 7-18) JI - JV
Tues./Thurs. 5:30-8:30 pm & Sat./Sun. 8:30 am-2:30 pm

The USSA race training program is a more intensive program for juniors. Based on the US Olympic Ski Team program, the kids get a tremendous amount of ski time on the mountain working on skiing skills, racing drills and honing their skiing skills & race technique. From J5's where skiers are introduced to competitions through J1's who are more advance and working on perfecting their skills. Skiers may choose to participate in USSA sanctioned races locally through the New Jersey Ski Racing Association, though this is optional.
These programs introduce and build racing skills for both Slalom and Giant Slalom racing. Specific race gear is necessary for competitions and training.

HIGH SCHOOL CROSSOVER,
MASTERS & ADULT RACING
Sat./Sun. 8:30 am - 2:30 pm

High school racers who are current members of a school race team will enjoy working with our coaches to bring their race technique to the highest level. Adult skiers who enjoy USSA Masters, ASRA and NASTAR or other race venues will find this program appropriate for perfecting their skills and technique.

General Information

The Hidden Valley Club Race Training Program is under the direction of Bill Bolte. Enrollment prices are for program costs only. All participants are required to purchase an Open Access Pass. Pass discounts are available for race parents. Specific race equipment is necessary and varies according to each program's training and race requirements. Racers who compete in races and travel to races at other mountains will also incur additional fees for race registrations and any personal travel costs. Jr. USSA program participants who compete must also join USSA and NJSRA in order to be eligible to compete in sanctioned races. All race program families are asked to become a member of HVARA, a non-profit club to help support the racers and their racing activities. Additional information for HVARA will be administered by the club upon program enrollment.
